instant pretty

June 24, 2013 by emily 53 Comments

Maybe it’s the Southerner in me, but blush is my “instant pretty” and I have been known to go a little overboard with it from time to time. I’ve learned that less is more, especially if you have the right color for your skin tone.

Here are some of my favorites for everyday:

NARS BLUSH IN ORGASM:Β Ok, somewhat offensive name aside, this blush has been one of my favorites for a long time and I swear it looks amazing on everyone.

bareMINERALS BLUSH IN FRUIT COCKTAIL: I love to use this super pink blush when I have more of a tan because the contrast really makes your cheekbones stand out.

BENEFIT BENETINT LIP AN CHEEK STAIN: Some people are scared off by stains, but they’re much easier than you think! Before I apply my foundation I just apply three vertical lines to my cheekbone and blend QUICKLY. This sets fast and will last all day long. You can even put some on your lips and people will think you just ate a cherry popsicle!

MALLY BEAUTY 24/7 ILLUMINATING BLUSH IN DEEP: This one of my most recent favorites and I absolutely love it, especially for summer. You just blend the glow (the color on the left) on to your cheekbones and then swirl a little blush (color on the right) on top for a super natural look that will also last you throughout the day.

NARS BLUSH IN GAIETY:Β When I first saw this blush at the NARS counter my friend, Cassie, and I laughed because it looked like a color only Barbie could pull off. After trying it, I fell in love and use this any day that my skin is feeling (for lack of better words) “blah.” I promise, it’s not nearly that pink after you apply it to your cheeks and it gives your face a healthy glow.

Do you have any favorites that I need to try? Leave it in the comments!

You should try NARS Douceur! It’s the perfect matte soft pink blush, and the best word I have to describe it is “appropriate”. It works with every look, all the time! It’s a must-have!

I love the NARS orgasm and also Benefit’s Lip and Cheek stain. I must be a southern girl inside because I love blush and tend to go a little overboard sometimes… lol

Arbonne has amazing blushes that last forever! As a consultant, I purchased mine back in October and it still looks like I just bought it. You use such a small amount, it goes very far. Also, their bronzer is amazing!!! The bonus of their products: NO animal by-products, chemicals, or fragrances are used to make them. They are all natural.

I love ELF’s HD Blushes. I use Headliner. It’s very pigmented, so you only have to use a dot’s worth. It blends out easily and lasts all day! I, too, am the Southern girl that loves some blush πŸ™‚

All of the bareMINERALS blushes are amazing. I love “Hint”, a pretty mauvey pink, and “Laughter”, a beautiful peachy coral, also. I bought “Fruit Cocktail” after seeing your interview with Possessionista and now I can’t live without those blushes!

I would love to be able to afford more expensive blushes, but I can’t all the time as a broke college student. So I’ve sort of fallen in love with blushes by E.L.F. They are super blendable, give a healthy glow, and last really well. The packaging looks like NARS! They also look really bright in the compact but don’t go on like that. I have like 4 colors now because they are only–get this–$3. I swear the duo bronzer/blush called St. Lucia is an exact replica of NARS orgasm but less shimmery, you should try it. Also, Kat Von D’s new blushes are really nice!

Favorite cream: Youngblood’s cream in Taffeta (The perfect baby pink that makes your cheeks glow every so slightly. The very very best.)
Favorite stick: NARS Multiple in Riviera(for that rosy cheek look that makes you look like you’ve just run around or on a cool crisp autumn day)
Favorite powder: For long wear, Tarte Dollface (if I know I’ll be out all day and night like on a day trip); for everyday, MAC Dainty (pink) and NARS Orgasm (peach) and NARS Madly (nude)

If you want to treat yourself to a luxury blush (which I rarely buy since they’re so expensive), Chanel’s “In Love” is beautiful. It looks kind of meh in the compact but it’s beautiful on everyone. It looks different on everyone.

You must try Nars Outlaw paired with Benefit’s Dallas as a bronzer. A sweet friend of mine paired these for me (never would’ve picked it up otherwise because I’m usually a straight pink girl) and now it’s an everyday staple. I have similar skin tone to you and am blonde as well-TRY IT!!:) xo

My daughter and I both like Benefit’s Dandelion blush. I love ALL of Tarte’s cheek stains. They re super easy to apply and last all day. The newest on, Awakening, is skintuitive. It is a different color on everyone. I also like the purple Dollface. It smells yummy, like gape bubblegum, and gives a lovely soft pink tint to your cheeks.
