What I Wore: Dressing for Transitional Weather

May 8, 2014 by emily 20 Comments

Are you as tired of hearing about the weather as I am? It’s the go to awkward conversation starter that everyone is guilty of, but really, how crazy has it been this year? I don’t know about where you live, but in Charlotte it will be warm one day and then freezing the next. Hopefully the warm weather is here to stay for a little while! However, I’m just so thankful we don’t have to worry about the awful tornadoes and hurricanes so many other people have to deal with, especially this time of year.

So, if you’re like me and beyond ready to wear all of the cute sundresses that have been hanging in the back of your closet for what seems like an eternity, it’s time to pull them back out! If you live somewhere that it gets a little cold at night, or even during the day, try layering a cute crochet over it. I also love this look for the summer with a lightweight lace tank or tshirt for an easy way to dress up a simple dress.

If you follow me on Twitter (@EmilyMaynard) you might remember me asking what color you all liked in these Vanessa Mooney by DV heels. Well, I took your advice and got the nude! Let me tell you, the last thing I needed was another pair of nude shoes, but I LOVE them and had people asking me all day where I got them! I also love them with a pair of rolled up boyfriend jeans.. I’ll do a post on that later 🙂

Last thing.. you can now shop your favorite bloggers Instagram pictures! Just sign up at liketoknow.it and then every time you “like” a picture on Instagram, you get all the details and links sent straight to your inbox!

PS– Sorry for the awful pictures! As much as I love Tyler, iPhone photography is not one of his gifts 🙂

Emily, I love that lace top. I see you posted links to two similar ones, but can I ask, where did you actually purchase that one? It is absolutely gorgeous! Love the outfit.

I adore this outfit. Emerald green is one of my favorite colors, and it always looks great on a blonde. The lace pattern on the sweater is divine.

That dress is a very pretty color. You made me laugh with the iPhone photography and Tyler comment. Maybe you can get him an iPhone photo taking book as a wedding gift..

Emily you’re right, up here in jersey the weather has been so unpredictable! Funny thing is I own so many cute crochet tops, heavy and light weight ones and I NEVER knew how to wear them or how they could even be useful! You answered my fashion prayers 🙂 that could probably be cute over a tank top and jeans for a casual look right?

I just bought the shoes in black and silver! I liked the nude but asked my family and they all said black. Can’t wait to get them!

Emily, I love your nail polish color! Do you do a coat of romantique first or the cream puff first? This is vital information that I simply need to know! 😉 Thanks.

Emily, you are so adorable!! Love this outfit.

I have a question about what length of skirts you think are appropriate for women over 30 – and moms in general. Again, you look *so* cute and stylish, but do you worry that your skirt is too short? I’m really just asking, because this is something that I’m struggling with. I want to look amazing and stylish, but I also don’t want to look like I’m trying to look 21. And as I strive to be a Godly mother, I don’t want my short skirts to be a downfall for my daughter, thinking that she needs to dress too sexily in order to look stylish. Do you have any thoughts on this?
