Men always say that women are so confusing. We say one thing and mean another.
I’m fine! = I’m pissed.
Go ahead! = I dare you.
Just 5 more minutes! = Crack open another beer. It’s going to be awhile.
Well here’s another to add to the list. I love makeup, but I don’t want it to LOOK like I’m wearing makeup.
Β There’s nothing worse than seeing a girl whose neck is a totally different color than her face. Where are her girlfriends to gift her with a much needed blending brush?? I can’t say much though because I’ve totally been that girl who looks in her rearview mirror and gasps in horror. Whether my foundation is the wrong color, I didn’t blend it in well enough, or I just simply used too much, they’re all easy mistakes to make. Good thing is, they’re also easy to avoid!
I always like to keep two different shades of foundation on hand: a lighter one for winter and a slightly darker one for summer. From there you can mix and match all day long, adding a pump of darker to your lighter or vice versa until it matches perfectly. I’ve recently discovered the “Beauty Blender Sponge” which I always thought was just a fancy/overpriced regular sponge, but it has since become one of my makeup drawer must haves. I run some water on it, squeeze out the excess, and then use it to apply my foundation. Instead of rubbing it in, you just tap it in and it makes your makeup look so much more natural. I also love the Sephora Pro Air Brush #55 to apply my foundation. It looks like a powder brush but does an amazing job blending everything in. Just make sure to clean it frequently or else it gets pretty rotten! I’ll do another post about how I clean my brushes soon because it’s so important! You’d be amazed at all the junk that comes out of those things!
Here are some of my favorite liquid foundations that make it look like I’m not wearing any foundation..
Okay and Β maybe men are right sometimes. Women are kind of confusing.
I love MAKE UP FOR EVER’s HD Foundation π great post!
Emily! Im so glad u made this blog, deff going to try the sponge tip! Looking forward to reading more!
I love the beauty blender and the sephora brush. I have MUFE foundation and love it but I’m really dying to try Armani foundation. What shades do you wear in these?!
I’m SO EXCITED you are doing a blog!!!! AHH
I recently became a “blender” π mixing two different shades of foundation to find the right mix. Definately a great trick and yes, my makeup looks much more natural. I really would like to try the beauty blender sponge. Thanks for reviewing it. I would have thought the same thing as you did just seeing it in the store and wouldn’t have bothered.
i would love it if you could do a make up tutorial video and post to your blog. Maybe just with the basics of your way of applying make up and maybe your favorite eye look. Thanks!
The beauty blog posts are the ones I cannot WAIT to continue reading. Oh, and anything you write about faith π
You always look so flawless without even trying and I want to start treating myself better and taking extra time and effort to achieve a fresh, clean, but glam look. I think it’s important for every woman to do that for herself and that’s why I’m so excited that you in particular are writing to share your knowledge!
Thank you for always being a classic lovely lady and inspiring me, Emily.
I am a big fan, you are so are kind-hearted that came across when you were the bachelorette.
You are a strong single mother. Go Emily π
Glad you mentioned in your blog that you should have winter foundation & summer foundation, so true.
Well, I look forward to reading more of your advice & tips π
So thrilled you are blogging! I cannot wait to read more about beauty and fashion! Great tips! “How To” posts would be fabulous!
Do you no longer use your airbrush machine?
Really excited about reading your blog.. I believe you will have a great impact on all that you touch!! Best of luck!!
Your foundation always looks so fabulous, how many times a day do you have to touch it up? What’s your favorite concealer for acne?
Emily,
Your makeup always looks beautiful and natural π I know exactly what you mean about blending it! I use a light mineral powder and a benefit matte bronzer to try to blend – but I think I will try the bew brush you recommended! Love your blog!
I loooove the Armani Foundation, the Mac is too drying for me. You gotta try the Face Atelier Foundation, it makes such a glowing and flawless finish, but its also covering. I also apply it with the Beauty Blender and fix it with a loose powder. Cant wait to read more beauty posts from you. Big hug from Germany
Do you still use the Temptu? What are your thoughts?
You don’t use TEMPTU anymore? I got one and I’m too addicted to try anything else!
eeek! i need to try that blending sponge – that looks AMAZING. can you get them at sephora?
The Beauty Blender is such a life changer and a must have beauty tool! Couldn’t agree with your selections more! And welcome to the world of blogging! I am looking forward to following along!

Emily! So excited you followed through with the blog!! It looks amazing π I use Mac studio fix/macke up forever HD as well as the beauty blender brush (there’s no comparison I tried others!) and I’d love to see some video tutorials in the future… Also I’m looking into getting a face brush like you mentioned in another post – Im glad you are seeing the benefits because I’ve been on the fence ! Xoxo Lo
I love this. I just ordered my Beauty Blender last week… it should be here tomorrow. I also thought it was just a fancy sponge but after hearing all the reviews I finally gave in and got it. I know it’s gonna rock so I can’t wait to try it out!
My holy grail foundation is Estee Lauder’s Double Wear. You should def try it!
p.s. MAC has a new foundation that came out today, the Mineralize Moisture SPF 15. Its supposed to be really nice and not cakey at all. π
I love this! I’m also obsessed with the armani foundation. I mix it with christian dior (which has a lighter consistency) for the perfect coverage. Thanks for these awesome tips – I’ve wondered about the beauty sponge too, guess I need to try it! xo

What type of powder do you set your foundation with?
I found the Beauty Blender sponge at TJ Maxx for $6! I’m in Tennessee, but I would assume others have it too!

Great post Emily!! Fabulous tips all women should use to achieve a flawless finish! Have you ever tried the Sigma flat top Kibuki brush? It’s amazing!! Makes your pores invisible and helps your foundation go on similar to that of an airbrush π
I am also curious if you still use the airbrush system
Emily,
You have been a role model of mine since watching you on the batchleor on Brads season. You ways look so glamorous and classy. Not only your looks but you handle things so perfectly even if its negative. Anyways, I’m wondering if you could do a make up tutorial !?? Just of your everyday look.

Yes! That MAC Studio Fix liquid foundation absolutely changed my life when I discovered it 2 years ago π As a woman of mixed heritage, I had long since given up on ever finding a single foundation that would match my skin tone EXACTLY. Boy was I wrong! The MAC artist took one look at me, said, “Oh that’s easy, you’re NC 45” and I haven’t gone without it a day since π It blends beautifully, matches my skin perfectly and makes me look flawless. I have yet to try the Armani Fluid Sheet/Luminous Silk line because they’re pricey, but I’m thinking that I’ll cave & spurge this summer π
Hi Emily!
I’m so excited to know you’re blogging, and about what all us girls love… lifestyle, fashion and BEAUTY! I loved watching your season and along with everyone else who fell in love with you on screen, always admired your gorgeous skin! I recently became the spokesperson for a new AIRBRUSH MAKEUP and SUNLESS SELF TANNING line for BELLOCCIO. It’s beyond incredible and I can humbly say this because EVERY SINGLE WOMAN who tries it, buys it! I would love to send you a kit for you to try yourself π
I look so forward to hearing back from you!
Wishing you all luck and love! Enjoy and congratulations π

The beauty blender was seriously a life changing purchase. It was actually my first blog post ever and I barely know how to do my makeup without it. LOVE!
Any tips on daily makeup wear around the house/gym to let your face rest? I’ve tried tented moisturizers but they seem to make my face look extremely shiny/oily. I need something light but still has good coverage. Thanks! I love that you have a blog..congrats!
As a former Mac Junkie, I was on a business trip and lost my cosmetic bag. I had to run into the local drug store and replace all my makeup!!! Not a department store cosmetic counter to be found… and here is what has stayed in my bag since…
NYC liquid lipshine: beats my MAC Lipglass and it is only a whopping $2.47. Stays moist, isn’t sticky and has a very subtle vanilla flavor. LOVE!!
L’Oreal True Match Makeup: These are non-sticky, lightweight and glide onto your skin easily. The color will blend in with your skin tone or you can mix the colors like I do since they have a cool, warm or neutral option in each tone.
Love these products and since I have started using them, I have saved a ton of money too! Never thought I would find such great cosmetics in the drug store!
Thanks Emily for giving us a place to talk to each other!
Waiting on your post on how to clean your makeup brushes!!
I hope it’s not the virgin oil + dish washing detergent method bc i’ve tried that and even through 10 washes, my brushes still feel oily!!
I’ll do a post about cleaning your brushes soon! I like to use bareMinerals brush shampoo.
I just want to mention I am new to blogs and seriously savored this blog site. More than likely Iβm likely to bookmark your website . You certainly have awesome article content. Thank you for sharing with us your website.
Very excellent write-up, reasonable advice. With thanks a lot =)
What colors do you use in these foundations? Thanks
Tell us about yout hair care plisssssss!! What you use?
Love your blog!! Was wondering, are you still using the Temptu system!?
Emily,
What shade(s) do you wear in the Make Up For Ever foundation? I feel we have an extremely similar skin color, eye color and hair color.
Please let me know. Thanks in advance!
I wear shade 120 and 127 when I have a tan. Sometimes I’ll mix a bit of each!
