ORIBE ROYAL BLOWOUT HEAT STYLING SPRAY

Product Review: Oribe Royal Blowout Heat Styling Spray

July 29, 2013 by emily 33 Comments

DISCLAIMER:I know you all get upset when I post about expensive products and I hate to say it, but you’re really going to hate me today. But seriously, I wouldn’t recommend it if I didn’t absolutely LOVE it and I try to post less expensive options when I can. So, I’m sorry to you and your bank accounts. Mine already hates me.

I think we can all agree that we hate drying our hair, right? Not only does it take me forever but it’s never as pretty as when when they do it at the salon. However, my hair is stick straight and when I let it dry naturally it’s a stringy mess. If you can relate to any of this, you need to try Oribe Royal Blowout Heat Spray. They sell it where I get my hair done and because I’m a product junkie I couldn’t leave without having a bag of stuff that will sit under my sink until it expires. As you all know, I already fell in love with the Oribe Dry Spray because it’s one of the few products that doesn’t make my hair greasy and flat. My hairstylist showed me how to apply Royal Blowout and I’ve been using it religiously ever since. It cuts my hair dryer time in half and I swear my hair has never felt softer when I do it myself. I let my hair air dry as much as I can and then section it out, starting at the bottom. I spray one or two sprays of Royal Blowout per section, making sure I only apply it to the ends. If this makes my straight hair shinier and straighter, I can only imagine what it would do it to curly or wavy hair. It’s also great for summer time because it helps tame frizzy flyaways! Β And I know it’s crazy expensive, but you just use the tiniest bit so a bottle lasts you forever!

What’s your favorite heat protectant spray?

I’ve heard about this stuff. I have always wanted to try it. I hope they sell it at Sephora because I’m not sure what salons in my area would sell it. I always love your product suggestions, so I’m excited to try this out!!! πŸ™‚ Thanks Emily! xoxo

I take no offense to your reviews of expensive products!! Keep them coming!! Drug store products can be great, but it’s no big loss if you purchase and don’t like the product. We want honest reviews of the expensive stuff so we know whether it’s worth it to purchase. Thanks for all of your reviews…I read every one of them!! You offer great advice and have excellent taste in beauty and fashion. Thanks again! πŸ™‚

LOVE your reviews! I’m also a product junkie and, being that it sounds like we have very similar hair types (no air drying for me either :-/) , I feel I can get through double the products without double the expense.
A favorite of mine at this time is the blowpro products. ‘Heat is on’, is the heat protectant spray I’ve been using and love it. I also only use it on my ends and length. With your good review I’ll be getting a bottle and trying this Oribe as well. Thank you!
I believe you get what you pay for in many cases, so expensive or not keep bringing on the great product reviews. Thank you!!!!

I love Kenra Blow-dry Spray! It runs around the mid $20’s, depending on size of the bottle. I, too, have very straight, fine hair – but LOTS OF IT! This product has cut down drying time by easily 1/2 and it smells super good. πŸ™‚

    Love your posts, Emily!

I’m addicted to anything by Oribe. I’ve been obsessed with the Apres Beach spray. It’s awesome! I’m going to have to try this spray for the days when I wear my hair straight!

@ Mel- Unfortunately they do not sell this at Sephora! I am a stylist and you can only buy Oribe products online or at exclusive salons that carry his FAB products! I know this line like the back if my hand and it is truly worth every $1!!!!

Emily u may also like volumista its by oribe too. I do hair and in our oribe hair class they said that volumista and royal blowout are salt and pepper. They play well together. I spray volumista at my roots and royal blowout on my ends. Also so careful with the royal blowout if have extensions, keep them away from your bonds. It can cause them to come out. Thanks keep the beauty tips coming!!!

Some of us are thankful you post the expensive products that work, so we don’t have to try ALL the expensive products ourselves. You’re saving some of us other product junkies some $, because we know we can trust your reviews. You don’t force anybody to buy anything and you are kind enough to accommodate most price ranges in most posts. We all have those holy grail “cheap,” products, but often times with beauty products you get what you pay for. The only exception I’ve ever found that blew me away is the recently reformulated Wet N’ Wild (laugh if you must, people) eyeshadow. I bought the green palette for a St. Patty’s Day look knowing I’d never ever wear it again and needless to say it impressed so much I bought the “everyday” colors–it’s highly pigmented and stays for ever. Nuts! Other than that, I’ve never been too lucky at the drugstore with products sans that vibrating mascara Maybelline discontinued–sounds crazy and borderline perv, but it was great and I’m still sad it’s discontinued! I never try a clearance or limited edition product, because that’s my luck. I find a great product and have to turn into an eBay fanatic to make sure I don’t run out. Just be you, Emily, lots of us love knowing your real beauty secrets and appreciate you sharing them!

Who cares if it’s expensive if it really works! I rather pay $50 for one product than $5 for a cheaper product that doesn’t work and then I have to spend more money looking for a product that does work. Your beauty recommendations have always been reliable and worked great for me. Thanks Emily!

Emily – don’t worry about people complaining about price, there are
products that are worth paying for…most if the time, you get what you pay for! Keep on keeping it real & giving us good product info – you can’t please everyone.

Hi Emily! Obsessed with your blog and YOU. You are such a fashion/beauty inspiration! I think I’m going to try this product. Like you, my natural hair is board-straight. If I use this product, am I still able to curl my hair afterward? Or is it only good for styling my hair straight? Thank you so much!

Emily, I love your hair. When I was a young teen, my hair stayed straight regardless. Now it stays straight when less than 2 inches. After that one’d think my sister permed my hair again. She did it once (when I was a teen) – we liked to experiment. Some time ago I called her and she told me to get this hair straightener and heating oil and do sections at a time. For all that work? Everyday? I’ll just keep it short or let my girl style it how she likes it.

Em, do you wear extensions? If so, can you use this product on them? I’m having some put in in a few weeks but am wondering what products I can use with them.

    Thank you! You look beautiful.

Thanks so much for the advice. I’ve been growing my long hair out, and I notice that the ends are getting fried daily as I blow-dry/flat iron my quaff in the “slick and sleek” style I like. I notice that my straight hair falls flat. I think investing in something like this would hopefully work wonders! I am using the green Fructose Hair Lotion Cream (or something like that), and really it’s more out of habit than anything else…I don’t think it’s doing it’s job. Thanks again!

I have thick hair and if I let it air dry, it will get really nappy! I been straightening my hair for the past 10 years. It is neither straight nor curly, so I will definitely give this a try, thanks!

I also use the Kendra Platinum Blow Dry spray and it has cut my blow drying time in half and makes my hair really soft. I love trying new products and will definitely try the Oribe product line now that I know about it. Thanks for giving us your feedback on the products you try and love. If you decide to try the Kendra Blow Dry spray let us know how it compares to the Oribe.

I took a class at the salon I worked at. Oribe, the creator of the line (obviously), himself came and taught the class and gave us everything there is to know about this line. If you’re debating about trying this product DO it. It is amazing. Anything in his line is perfect, definitely worth every cent. And yes I have extensions, so it’s perfectly fine to use on them. I don’t even use a brush to blow dry my hair, (and my hair is a bit wavy) and it’s still comes out straight and beautiful!

Try Kenra’s blow dry mist also. It is about $20 so its affordable and works amazing! Gets rid of all the fly aways, makes your hair sleek and smooth without weighing it down. Plus it protects your hair from the heat and smells great!
