So far 2013 has been a pretty awesome (do people still say that word? no? ok just me..) year for me. It’s only August and I have launched my own fashion blog, started a jewelry line, and really feel like I’m becoming the person I’ve wanted to be. Well, at the end of this week I’m about to take an even bigger leap towards that goal. I’m going to Ethiopia with a fabulous group of women (and one very brave man!) on a trip that I know I’m never going to forget.
I believe that we’re all put on this earth to serve others and thats why I’m so excited to be a part of this amazing adventure. I’ve always had a heart for women and children, so when I learned about FashionABLE I knew that it was something I wanted to be a part of. We’re all looking for easy ways to give back and just by purchasing one of their beautiful scarves or new leather pieces (I have the clutch and LOVE it!) you’re directly changing the life of a woman and her family. As an added bonus, the scarves are beautiful and I promise you’ll get compliments every where you go!
Well, in honor of our trip and the launch of the new leather line, FashionABLE is giving away a Meseret scarf and a Tigist leather clutch (both shown above) to one of my lucky readers! Enter below to win and learn more by following @MochaClub and @LiveFashionable on Twitter/Instagram/Pinterest and Like them on Facebook.

When packing for an international trip, I always make a list of what I’ll need to pack (clothes, shoes, toiletries) and a list of things I’d like to see/do on my trip. Even if I don’t get to see everything on my list, I like to be prepared and it helps get me excited about the trip!
I roll everything when packing – helps a little with the creases! Have a wonderful time in Ethiopia. Can’t wait to see pics…
Bring bug repellent!
I loveeee the scarf!!! š So pretty.
Make sure not to wait until the last day to pack. š
Have a blast in Ethiopia Emily!
Pack light and practical. Bring pieces you can pair easily with other daily outfits!
How exciting! Good Luck on your trip!!! Love the scarf & clutch! š
Stay hydrated on the long plane ride! And take your own pillow.
Dry shampoo and hair ties! And comfy shoes š Have fun!!!
That clutch is to die for!
That’s so awesome you’re going on this trip, Emily! (No, you’re not alone; I still use that word too) š When I pack my suitcase for a long trip I roll my clothes up really small instead of folding them. It may not seem like it but I swear it takes up less space, and keeps my suitcase more organized, too!
My favorite packing tip is to put disposable shower caps over my heels to prevent my clothes from getting dirty or my my heels from getting scuffs!! Travel safe!!
Sunscreen and sunnies are an obvious must for sure! When I forget to pack either, there’s never a happy ending
Blessings to you and all the best on your exciting adventure to Ethiopia! You are an admirable woman of God and my thoughts and prayers go out to you, your traveling team, and the women and children in Ethiopia!! You are an inspiration and a hold a unique spirit of excellence!
Jen Haines
Love you Emily! Have a great trip š
When packing make sure to pack your dry shampoo, wet wipes, and sunscreen! Work wonders out traveling! š have fun!
My packing tip for international travelers is to use space bags! Space bags are perfect for checking a bag and fitting as much of your stuff in it as possible! You are more likely to overpack when you travel internationally, which is understandable! You don’t want to forget anything! However, using space bags you need to be careful about going over the weight limit for your bag! Space bags are available at Target.
Well Emily I have not been out of the country before to a country where I had to limit what to pack. But I have heard if you are doing construction in another country to take clothes you dont mind throwing away after you use them so your suitcase is very light on your way home. I would defiantly pack dry shampoo! I love reading your blog and I cant wait to hear about your trip! I am so jealous!
When packing I always like to make lists on what I need to bring, depending on weather and whatnot. Have fun on your trip!!!
This is so awesome! It’s my dream to get involved with something like this! You are doing an amazing thing, Emily!! As for packing…I’m no help. I pack way too much even if I’m planning to be gone overnight. Ziplock baggies are a must and don’t forget your bug spray!
use just a carry on if you can! so much easier than checking a bag. it eliminates alot of stress in the airport. I always just pack a few cute staples, dark skinny jeans, a cute comfortable jacket, a statement necklace, and I can usually fit all I need in the carry on!
Roll up your shirts to fit more in your suitcase! And put your socks and underwear in your shoes for extra room š
Don’t forget a camera & soak up all of the memories you can! Not very many people get to experience going to a country like Ethiopia & the diversity that will effect you in many way!
I always make sure to bring a really comfortable pair of walking shoes if I know its going to be a trip with lots of sightseeing!
I love these scarves. I have two and you’re right, I get tons of compliments!
So great you are traveling to Europe! Have a safe trip!
I’ve never been international but I would think bringing plenty of “undergarments” is important! š
& maybe snacks too!
I have been to Africa twice! I was in Uganda for four months and so I have a few pointers š lots of conditioner and shampoo! We ran out and they don’t have much if any to choose from! Bring pictures of you and your families and some you can leave there. The people in Africa love to see where you came from and would love to keep a pic for memory sake! Peanut butter! When you need something sweet and American š
Pack lots of light-weight dresses! They fit into compact spaces, they travel well and they are light and breezy for hot weather.
I would pack dry shampoo, bug spray and lots of sunscreen. Also make sure to pack functional cute shoes. Don’t forget to pack a great attitude for new adaptations! Love your blog!!
Make sure to double check that you have everything! I got to Europe and realized I forgot socks š it was hard to find the right European size! So double and triple check!
I would love to win the scarf and the clutch! Not only are they beautiful accessories but they are helping someone in need, what could be better!
SO awesome. My girlfriend and I went on a trip to Ethiopia this summer, and actually visited Live Fashionable. It’s amazing what they’re doing. We were so inspired by them and our trip, that we started our own clothing line, Jesse G. Clothing, that benefits the youth in Ethiopia through what we call “Projects”.
Have an awesome time, Emily! I recommend taking toilet paper everywhere you go…you’re not going to find much in Ethiopia! TMI?
What a cool company with a great purpose! Love the clutch!
ALWAYS pack extra socks! That is one thing I live by!
Have Fun! I just went on a mission trip to Trinidad and it was amazing!! Pack lots of tanks and shorts! And comfortable sandals!
When traveling i try to bring along clothes i don’t usual wear, make new outfits, for nicer pics, to feel fresh, new, good about myself.
When packing for an international trip or just generally, I always leave some extra room in the suitcase so I have room to bring some souvenirs back! I love shopping in different cultured places!
Pack your individual outfits (with jewelry!) in zip lock bags. That way you can just grab a bag for that particular day!
Make sure to bring a camera and journal to document your trip! Praying for safe travels and that God continues to show you ways to serve his people!
I find it is always important to bring a journal – you will never regret writing down what you experience in another world!
Hello! We adopted a baby from Ethiopia and traveled there twice. Love the sweet people and country. It is life changing and will fill your life with so much joy. One of the things that came in handy for us was an electrical adapter-adapts from Ethiopian to US. If you have a chance, bring back as much coffee as you can. It is so good and while you sip on it at home, you will have a piece of Ethiopia with you. Enjoy and cherish your time.
When traveling internationally for my athletic competitions, sometimes I like to send surprise postcards to friends and family back home!
I use a little cheat sheet I found on Pinterest. It basically takes 5 or 10 pieces (depends on how long the trip is) and it shows you how to match them up. So you end up wearing some stuff twice. It was hard the first time. So now I’ll try to pack like, one pair of pants and 2 top options. Shoes that will go with more than one thing and LOTS of jewelry, in case I do end up feeling weird about wearing stuff twice. I’m not the lightest packer, but that list really saved my butt, and my wallet from baggage fees! š
Traveling tips: roll your clothes instead of just folding and bring ziploc bags! They might come in handy, especially for the liquids you’re carrying. Also, light layers for travel!
My biggest traveling tip is to pack for layering. And roll your clothes rather than folding. You can fit more that way! And always leave room for souvenirs!
Make sure you bring a hat! There will be days you don’t want to worry about your hair, or its too hot so you have some shade for your face!
Buy a suitcase that is a bright color so you can spot it easily!
When traveling internationally, I always pack everything into clear gallon ziplock bags (well at LEAST my clothes). That way when going through customs they do not unfold my clothes and more importantly strangers are not handling my clothes and belongings.
I roll my clothing. It prevents wrinkles and your clothing rolls up tightly so you can squeeze more into your bag! Also, a duffle bag fits way more than a regular suitcase!
I, personally, would pack sunscreen (I am white as a sheet) as well as a good shampoo and conditioner! I went to Ethiopia a year or two ago and found myself craving something sweet after a few days… perhaps pack a KIND bar?
Always bring the appropriate outlet adapters for camera and phone chargers! And a mini journal to briefly recap each day’s adventures.
Pack dry shampoo and sample sized makeup and skincare items.
Bringing the Ethiopian kids small pack able toys ($ store jump ropes, balloons for them to blow up..simple things for them to have) also things for your drivers and people you may have contact with.
What a special trip to bless those people. Have fun!!!!
Pack comfortable clothes!!
Pack all clothes, jewelry, makeup, etc. in plastic ziploc bags – this way you can keep all your outfits for each day organized and you can see your jewelry and makeup through the ziploc bags for easy access. Ziploc bags (or other clear plastic bags) are also great because you can keep your makeup from spilling out (and potentially ruining!!!) your clothes! P.S. – Sounds like you are going to a place where dry shampoo, baby wipes, sunscreen and bug spray will come in handy! Oh! and pack a scarf! Every girl needs a scarf when traveling!
Roll clothes – helps with wrinkles and saves space! I also pack blouses in tissue paper (and add layers between clothes) to help with wrinkles!
Where to being? Roll everything (helps things stay wrinkle free and helps with space), dry shampoo and cell phone charger, sunscreen & bug spray!
Have a great trip! Looking forward to your return blog!
Whenever I pack for a trip so always check the weather forecast just so I know exactly what to pack. I also bring along a plastic bag for all my dirty clothes at the end of a trip. And to save some extra space I always roll my clothes instead of laying them flat, it saves so much space!
Gorgeous scarf!! Love it
Ive been to Kenya, and believe me, in that part of the world you want some seriously light and breathable clothes! Have so much fun!
Bug spray, bug spray! I went to Ethiopia not long ago and bug spray saved me! Dress cute and with as much neutral color as you can, helps keeps bugs away. CHOCOLATE. I loved having wonderful American chocolate while I was there. Along with plenty of shampoo and conditioner. (:
I went to Ethiopia in May and fell in love. I brought lots of skirts to wear and ended up leaving all of them there because the women I worked with told me how much they liked them. Be sure to visit Sabahar, a silk factory in Addis. They have dozens of scarves and the tour is eye opening.
I hope Ethiopia captures your heart as much as it captured mine!
Romans 12:12
That sounds like an amazing trip!! Triple check your list! Definitely light weight clothing!
Make sure you have all your vaccinations and immunizations!!
This is such a beautiful cause! Having visited Africa a few years ago on mission work, I can contest that we are all gods children. Thank you Emily for shinning some sunshine on the desolate conditions over there.
I fell in love with these scarves when you tweeted about them a few months back! So excited that you have this opportunity to serve as part of this trip, and I’m eager to read a post about your experience!
Always leave a little extra room in your suitcase, that way you’ll have extra space to bring home a beautiful international piece of clothing! š
When I traveled overseas, I rolled all of my dress clothes in the bags that you get from the dry cleaners. This kept them from wrinkling. Most dry cleaners will give them to you if you tell them what you are wanting them for. I also like to pack small bottles of shampoo, conditioner, lotion, etc (that you get from hotels) to pass out to the people in the area. They like receiving essential gifts that they can use. Have a wonderful trip! I’m sure it will be a life changing opportunity for you!!
Pack for all kinds of weather!
I would pack dry shampoo, hand sanitizer, comfortable shoes for walking, a water bottle that has a filter built into it (that way you can have fresh filtered water anywhere from any source).
Only pack travel sized toiletries! You can find pretty much anything you need in country!
Pack a long sleeve chambray to layer over anything. Layerable items are key cause you can mix and match with different outfits to save packing space š Dry shampoo is a lifesaver!
I have never traveled internationally but if I did, I’d make sure I had any products that I have to have that wouldn’t be available to pick up while there.
Make a packing list weeks in advance that way when you think of new things you will want to bring each day up until the trip you can still add them to your list.
Don’t forget sunscreen!
How long will you be gone? (That makes a huge difference in what I pack.) What do you bring on the plane?
Always take 2 pairs of sunglasses and flipflops! Just in case one breaks!
As an Aesthetician I say WEAR YOUR SUNSCREEN!! And give lots of loves and hugs!! Also say a little Prayer to be so thankful for what we have and they may not and that God may pour out an extra blessing upon each and every one of the women and children you come in contact with Much Love to you Emily!!
Definitely Dry Shampoo, Neck pillow for the plane ride and band-aids ( I always seem to cut myself or get a blister when I go on a trip). Have fun, and Be Blessed and Mightily Favored by God!
Scarf is adorable! I love it! And before I go on a trip I usually wander up and down the aisles of REI. They always seem to have something I “need.”
I used to live overseas… an important thing to remember is bug spray. I know it’s not something people like to think about, but the reality is that bugs like mosquitoes are more prominent in these areas. I hate the smell of bug spray because it makes a sudden positive girly feel, go completely back woods camping trip. I’ve found that Avvon Skin so Soft works wonders against bugs and actually smells good! I bring it on every trip and it’s been a lifesaver for some trips where the bugs were basically life size! š
Pack something that will remind you of home!!
So excited for your trip to Ethiopia! A friend of mine traveled to the fistula hospital in Africa a few years ago (it was featured on Oprah many years ago). She said that they (the group she traveled with) left nearly all of their clothing and shoes behind and wore flip-flops on the plane ride home. So bear that in mind when packing. You may feel the overwhelming desire to donate your clothing and shoes to the Ethiopian women you’ll be meeting. Have fun, be safe and take lots of pictures! Blessings to you and to all those you’ll be meeting!
I love the scarf and the clutch but even more than that I love that they support a great cause
Mocha Club is awesome!
The only traveling tips I have would be make sure you have your passport, and then make sure again! Bring comfy clothes that could also be used as comfy pj’s to save space on packing too! š
We’ve never met, but I knew Ricky back in the day for a bit. He would truly be proud of the woman you are and how you’ve raised little ricki. I’m proud that you’ve chosen to do something kind and wonderful with your fame. Stay sweet and true to you. Oh and take a camera with you!!
Bring anything that you might like to use in case you get sick. Often times when you visit a new country, there are new strains of bacteria your body isn’t used to and it might be hard to find the medication you know works for your body š PS have a great time!
I always make sure I pack my clothes as outfits, instead of grabbing a bunch of shirts, shorts, pants, etc. I like to make sure I have full outfits picked out for everyday of my trip so I don’t have to worry about later or worry about forgetting something.
Definitely bring wet wipes! You never know the toilet paper situation over there
Wow, Africa will be an amazing trip, many blessings to you Emily!
Put all of your liquids in ziploc bags…lotion, bugspray, etc. Anything that can leak or spill especially since airline workers will be tossing your luggage around. This will ensure everything else in your suitcase doesnt get ruined if lid comes off.
Take an extra set of clothes on the plane with you and keep your travel size toiletries with you too. Just in case something happens with your luggage. And of course don’t forget all your important identifications (passport!). Make lots and lots of checklist to remember everything!
Something that I always bring along when I go abroad is different equipment to avoid bites from bugs and mosquitoes. I also usually bring some sort of cream for making my mosquito bites heal, because they are soo itchy!
I make a list and check each item off after it goes in the suitcase, that way I hopefully do not forget anything.
Love this cause. Thanks for sharing!!
The 3 items I would be sure to include are hand sanitizer, pain reliever, and an anti-diuretic just in case. Safe travels!!
Rolling your clothes up before packing them in your suitcase is such a space saver!
When international traveling you can’t forget a good fedora for bad hair days, smash box lip balm, and hand sanitizer! Safe and happy traveling!! š
Drink bottled water!!!
Enjoy your trip, Emily! Is Ricki going too? Have fun!
My advice for international travel (especially for fashionistas!): Pack everything you think you’ll need, then take half of it out. Seriously–you never need as many clothes as you think you will, and even more so on mission trips.
Less is more when traveling! Versatility, comfort, and effortless style!
Stick to a color collection… choose things that all go together for easy mixing and matching. Also choose really light weight fabrics! Have fun! Can’t wait to read all about it! and I LOVE FashionABLE!!!
Make lists and pack stuff that is comfortable
Have a great trip Emily! Such a great thing you are doing! Love the scarf and clutch!
whenever I pack shoes, I always want to keep them in good shape and form. In order to do this, I first stuff the shoes with tissue paper, then wrap them in tissue paper, and finally store them in shoeboxes to prevent damage. Usually, I pack 3 boxes at the bottom of a large suitcase!
Roll all your clothes! Saves room in your suitcase and doesn’t wrinkle!
Make sure to bring any power converters you might need!
Part of the travel experience is the people just as much as the sights. Don’t forget to look at them too!
Pack light and with clothes that you can make several outfits with! I use the clear dry cleaner bags to roll my stuff in so I don’t get wrinkles!!
Roll your clothes, place shoes to the outside edges of your luggage and stuff small things in shoes and such for extra space in your bag!
A perfect match for you! Love that you have been supporting FashionABLE over the last year or so. What a wonderful role model you are for your daughter.
Whenever I pack for any trip I always roll my clothes⦠it just seems to make more space for everything!

I always like to pack a few of my favorite snacks in my luggage so that I can snack when I want, regardless of time changes, etc.
Keep a pair of socks and clean undies in your carry on! You never know if your luggage will make it.
I always make sure to pack a pain reliever and some sort of anti-acid. You never know how you’ll do with new food and flavors!
I use small pieces of cling wrap so my shampoo, conditioner, and lotion or anything else won’t leak on anything. It was a lifesaver when I went to Europe last year.
making a list always helps me remember everything š
I used to Zip & Ship (I learned this from a Michelle Money video) and found that it only works on domestic flights. For international flights I roll everything up super tight! Also, don’t bring a ton of stuff in your carry on because you usually won’t use it all on the plane and then you have to cary a twenty pound bag around…have an awesome trip!!
I always pack at least one lounge outfit, like sweat pants and a t shirt. Even vacations can be tiring and it’s nice to have something cozy to wear in the evenings or if you decide to just stay in one day!
So cool!
Good for you for going on this trip!! Packing for international trips is difficult especially when they are third world countries. Keep it simple but be prepared to leave some of your favorite things there, i.e. accessories. Natives in those countries love Americans and the way they dress and giving away some of your things will be a priceless gift to them! Enjoy loving on them! It WILL change your life!
Can’t wait to see all of the life changing things you will do!
I love both the scarf and clutch! Safe travels and have fun!
I went to Ethiopia 2 years ago and I would recommend bringing teva sandals (or even crocs, they are worth it) to be able to throw on. Long skirts, or at least to the knee, are what many women wear. I’d also bring gum or candy, the kids LOVE those little treats. Bring stuff that you’re willing to leave behind. We ended up leaving half our suitcase with clothes and shoes. They are so grateful and need it way more than us!
Wear layers when flying. You never know when you will be hot or cold! Also from my experience when I traveled to Rwanda, bring some chewable peptobismol tablets š and spearamint gum!
Take it all in and enjoy every second. It won’t last long enough.
I love this! What a great company!
I hope you have an awesome trip!! One thing I’d be SURE to have were my dry shampoo and some simple, comfy things to wear!
Bring earplugs in case you are seating around families with very young children/babies
Safe travels! Don’t forget sunscreen!
Pack some kale chips for a light healthy snack!
Rolling your clothes allows you to pack more!!!
Take pieces that can be easily mixed and matched! Sometimes I take pictures of different outfits combinations prior to a trip too.
I wish you the best of luck on your trip to Ethiopia! š You are truly an inspiration in many ways!
Pack a journal! Write in it often and fill it with little mementos from around your trip. I really love going back and reading my journals from such pivotal trips I have taken.
Pack light!!
Make a list before you pack!! Take a camera, your bible (unless you use your phone for that!) and a journal!
Love the scarf & clutch!
Comfortable Shoes are always at the top of my list for traveling!!! But just because they are comfortable doesn’t mean they can’t be stylish š
Also, comfortable, easy staple pieces that can be mixed and matched to be worn multiple times! Have a wonderful trip!
Those are adorable pieces. Enjoy your travels! Sounds so exciting!
-Kate
Pack at least 1 change of clothes(and some toiletries too!) in your carry-on in case your luggage gets lost!!
Always remember comfy shoes, a journal and Bible! I’ll be praying for you guys!!!
Pack shoes on the bottom because they tend to be heavier!
I like to pack all of my toiletries in plastic zippy bags in case anything leaks.
Pack an extra outfit in your carry-on just in case. I’ve learned from experience after the airlines lost my bag and I didn’t have it for two days š Safe travels!
Hey Emily,
I’m so excited to hear about your trip! I, too, have a huge place in my heart for Ethiopia and lived there (Addis) for a few months in 2009. I met a wonderful family that has a scarf, jewelry, and apparel shop in Addis. They recently have been able to partner with Wal-Mart who is starting to sell some of their scarves. The organization is called full circle exchange by Salem. I would love to talk more if your interested! I live in Charlotte and would be more than happy to get you connected with them. They have a huge heart for The Lord! I hope you have a fabulous trip! If you go to Addis, try and make it to the Mother Teresa orphanage. It’s life changing! I can’t wait to go back again!!!
give lots of kisses to ricki before u leave! have a blast!!!!!love ur blog emily!!!
ps id love to win some goodies !!
Leave any stress from home behind, and focus on being where you are without distractions that are thousands of miles away!
Take tons of pictures to remember the great memories that you are going to make!
Hope it’s a very fun trip! Tip for travelling is exercise the day before your flight, especially if it’s going to be a long one and hydrate well š
Don’t forget bug spray & dry shampoo!
Hi Emily, I’ve been to Europe a few times & the first time I think I packed all of my possessions because you never know how the weather might be or what occasion might come up. What I learned from the first trip is to keep it basic & add a few cool pieces that you could mix & match. Bring cute but comfortable shoes. On light days you can use a scarf for a shaw. Bring more tops than bottoms. The must have is sunglasses & a really cute hat like a fedora or floppy hat. Just be selective of your pieces & try everything on before you pack it.
Bring some basic clothes you can use in many different outfits so you don’t over pack.
Make a checklist and use ziplock bags for everything!
Hi Emily, I have not been to Africa, but I have been to the Turks & Caico’s islands and China, where it was very hot when I traveled at the time. I would recommend extra shirts, flip flops, bug spray, itch cream, sunscreen, mini toiletries – and leave it all behind … it is so nice to give them your extras and to leave space in your luggage! Also, a portable mini fan (I am talking a really small) would be a bonus to bring in case it gets really hot at night and it helps with the pesky mosquitos! Good luck!!!
Pack each outfit, or similar things like tank tops or tee shirts together in a ziplock bag so you don’t have to search or think about what goes with what. Put the outfits you’ll wear first at the top of your bag for easy access. Oh, and journal!! How exciting! Safe travels!
Pack each outfit in a ziploc bag, panties included. That way it’s all there when you’re ready to get dressed!
Pack light and practical. Don’t wait until the last day to pack. If you are a procrastinator pack a little bit each day. Remember to have a blast and take in every moment. Have a wonderful trip!
Always pack clothes that are versatile and you can wear again, especially pieces you can layer! That way, you’ll pack less. Have a great trip!
Things I always love to have with me on a flight are:
My scarf, some nice headphones & some airborne tablets!
If I could have an experience like that I think I would journal it all so my daughter could read it when she’s older. Enjoy your time! I can’t wait to see pictures!
I think it’s so wonderful that you’re going to Ethiopia Emily! I’m sure you’re aware of ‘The girl Effect’, so I love that you’re helping to change women’s lives and their families.
Hope you have a great time and can’t wait to hear more about it!! š
use a straw to prevent necklace knots š
When I pack for international trips I always check the weather forecast for where I am going to I know exactly what to pack and then I dont end up overpacking… no on likes paying for an overweight bag!
hmm travel tips… i always bring dramamine & my kindle. š
For international trips, I think a kindle is great for the plane – that way you aren’t carrying a bunch of books or magazines.
Have a safe trip!! : )
I would definitely pack my camera. I have my camera with me anytime I go anywhere exciting or life-changing, so that would be a given. I’ve supported The Mocha Club & fashionABLE for over a year now, so I would absolutely love to go on a trip in direct relation to those causes(:
Open your heart and mind. I think you will come home changed.
Love live fashionABLE and mocha club!! Hope you have a phenomenal trip, doll!!
Make sure you buy a sleep mask for the plane! You will be glad you did especially when they are constantly turning on those cabin lights! Have a wonderful trip!
WOW good for you- that is very selfless and impressive!
I’d say pack lightly but hoarding is my specialty;) I’d bring some lipstick. You’ll probably be fairly makeup free for the trip but a pop of color is always nice!
Love the scarf and clutch.. so pretty.

Sounds like an amazing trip! Best wishes!
Dry shampoo š
Take TONS of pictures. You will cherish them forever.
Every time I go away I bring lots of wet wipes. For your particular trip be sure to pack light colored clothing. Those pesky little mosquitos that carry malaria, dengue fever, etc love the dark stuff. Scarves are a must and so is a flashlight!! Don’t forget your bug spray!! Can’t wait to hear all about your trip!!
Have a great trip and pack light so you can bring lots of treasures home! I always make sure that the clothes I take can do double duty. Anything that can easily go from day to evening is the best! Throw on a scarf and some great jewelry and you’re good to go!
Bring facial wipes for an easy way to clean your face after the plane ride, through out the day, and before you go to sleep.
Carmex for sure!
I definitely make lots of lists so I don’t forget anything!
Bring a fold-up fan. It gets HOT!
Sounds like an amazing trip! You are such an inspiration!
When packing, pack things that can make multiple outfits out of the same piece!
Bring clothing to layer!
Try to be reasonable about how many pairs of shoes you will actually need. š
Sounds like the trip of a lifetime! They’re lucky to have you.
I seriously love all of your outfits and accessories Emily! I love to bring good books on the plane. It really makes the time fly by!
Buy hair appliances over there so that you don’t burn out your own. (and roll – don’t fold)
My most important tip when traveling is to always bring a sweater on the plane, you never know what you will need it for- a blanket/pillow to help sleep (if its even possible sitting straight up), something to sit on if the seat looks dirty, and of course to keep you warm in the cold airport.
enjoy your trip! must bring sunscreen and a high spf for that strong sun! plus an ipad and chargers. sleepytime tea for restless nigths hoping a spider doesnt get in the room ha! that would be me
If you roll your clothes instead of fold them…you get more room and less wrinkles š
I always bring a cozy item that makes me feel at home, like a favourite-scented travel-sized candle or my pillow, for the nights I just want my own bed.
Fold up an empty small duffle bag and pack it in your suitcase on the way there, then it becomes your carry-on on the way back – now you have a way to bring back whatever you bought on your trip! Hope you have an amazing time!
Pre planning outfits and taking a few staples and adding to those staples to make different outfits! Rolling clothes too!
maybe some bug spray/things you have here but may not have there, use zip lock bags to pack daily outfits/jewlrey :]
Would love to win! Packing tip: roll clothes instead of fold.
I always pack dry shampoo, a few great staples, and bring a scarf like that on the plane to wrap up with if you get chilly!
Bring clothes that dry quickly after washing them!
You have been a shining example as a Mom and adult. Very proud of all your accomplishments and beliefs. Safe trip and know that you are taking a piece of all of us with you. Your a remarkable person. Safe trip! Dana also! Hope you share all about your experience with us. Hugs.
Don’t forget your vaccinations (mantra from my doctor when travelling overseas) ! And the passport and travel docs!
Emily- just contact me and I’ll help you pack!! haha! I’m Momma to four little boys 7,4,2 and a newborn and I pack for all of us. I must say getting pretty good at it! wink, wink!
Just make it home safely. Love.
