I Β admit that I can be a bit dramatic, but I’m a girl so that gives me a “get out of jail free” pass once in a while right? Well, I was talking to my friend and said, “Can you believe it’s almost Christmas?!” Obviously they laughed because it’s barely October, but I feel like once you see your first Halloween decoration the holiday season is basically here and the months fly by. So that technically means it’s almost Christmas, right?
That got me thinking about Christmas parties, New Years Eve…. maybe even Valentine’s Day if I’m really reaching. In all aspects of my life I’m not the best planner except for when it comes to what I’m going to wear. In that area, I like to be prepared! So, I wanted to come up with some different outfits that will save me from wearing the same typical/boring outfit me and every other girls wears to every holiday party.
I love adding belts to outfits because, just like jewelry, you can take a basic dress and really dress it up and completely change it’s look. I added this ribbon belt to my dress from E’s Closet BoutiqueΒ (they have the cutest dresses at super affordable prices!), some sky high heels that I can barely walk in, a hot pink clutch, and I’m ready to walk (slowly) out the door! I’m also wearing the Corrinne earrings from my jewelry line that I absolutely love.. They have a “Great Gatsby”/ vintage vibe!
What do you all think? What are some other ways to dress up your favorite basic dresses?
This dress is gorgeous Emily!! Love the yellow bow in the back and I love the pop of pink you added with the clutch, so pretty!

Absolutely love this look! You look gorgeous!
I totally know what you mean! I love fall mainly because it means Christmas is just around the corner… well that and the cool air, pumpkin spice lattes, and football! Love your style Emily! Such an inspiration! π

Emily,
In your opinion, what is the biggest “no-no” for Holiday Party wear?
I Love the outfit! I love the strong and beautiful colors and the belt is so awsome =) I like all the diamonds and glitter on it. Have a very good day Emily!! Hugs from Maria =)
Love the dress (esp. the color), love the belt and you look beautiful. But, I hesitate to say it, I think the dress is just a tad too short!
Thank you! I also didn’t realize how short it was until I saw these pictures. Maybe next time I’ll throw on a pair of tights!
Love this dress! And you are so right about belts, they really do take an outfit up a notch. I think I need to start investing in some!
Love this look Emily!! You are totally right, belts are the perfect accessory to any outfit! I have always admired your style and I may be a little bias because I’m a fellow Charlotte girl & fashion blogger myself. I think my love for tutu’s & cats is one style you would adore!

The outfit is adorable but the stretched photos are really not necessary. You look fantastic without having to be stretched out of proportion. I would just stick with a la natural.
Stretched out pictures? They look normal on my computer. Are you looking at the site on a phone?
emily love the dress! did u tailor the dress to be shorter or is that the natural length? also when is ur holiday collection coming out? so excited!
Thank you! I didn’t tailor this dress at all. And I’m not sure yet but will keep you updated! xo
I love the dress and the fit!! π what size did you get if you don’t mind me asking, I’m thinking about ordering it!! xoxo thanks
What color of tights would you put with this dress?
I love the belt, didn’t see it on the website π
I recognize those shoes from your After the Final Rose outfit! I love those Art Deco earrings, I’m adding them to my list. Any idea whether you’ll still have the original collection pieces available after your new seasonal collection comes out?
You look absolutely stunning. Great outfit. Work it classy girl! π
LOVE the dress and the belt combination! Beautiful colors and still bright for Fall.
So elegant, Emily! Can I be your assistant!?
Her look is perfect. Not too short at all. Emily you got the rule of thumb down pat. Its totally okay to show leg if you are covered everywhere else. And this dress does exactly that. Plus it’s also a looser fit so it’s totally perfect. Along with your accessories. And thanks for the tip for that website! And by the way
your absolutely stunning in those stretched out pictures π haha <3
I LOVE the length and the color!! It is very balanced & classy! Beautiful!
I was wondering if turquoise was acceptable in the fall!!!! I see you pull it off without a hitch! Do you think that fashion rules are falling by the wayside? I know you can wear WHITE after Labor Day now, black to a wedding. What about funeral attire, is it inappropriate to wear colors to a funeral. My husband said I needed to tone down an outfit, what do you guys think????
Wow.
Emily you are so pretty! Love your outfits. Can you show us some outfits that you would wear during the day maybe running errands or lounging around the house? I’m home w/my kids and love your style and would love some cute outfits for doing nothing!! lol….
I love accessorising but when it comes down to it I never know how much non-matching is too crazy. I love fun pieces but never know how mix and matchy to be. Fashion help please!
The belt is from ANTHROPOLOGIE!! π
Ahhh – I am in love with this purple dress! The color totally pops out – perfect for fall.

I love this look, you look so beautiful and the color of that dress, really pops! Love it! Looks like it’s a very nice material also.
Plus, I’m not even starting to praise your belt, gorgeous! Have a great day Emily!

Firstly, the dress is not too short unless you are a total prude! If you’ve got it, flaunt it and you my dear have got it! And you manage to flaunt it without looking trashy – you always look elegant, classy and fabulous. I adore your style and your blog has inspired my wardrobe π
P.S I love the earrings – they are on my must-have list!
P.S.S Joseph seems like a stalker…
Where is your exact dress from?
