Ever since I was a little girl I have loved checking the mailbox. When I was 7 I adopted a manatee in the Florida Keys just so they would me pictures of her in the mail. At age 10 I somehow learned of the Publisher’s Clearing House and got so many letters from them I was convinced Ed McMahon would be knocking on my parents door at any moment, holding a check for $1,000,000.
As an adult, checking the mail gets a lot less fun. Junk mail coupons, bills, catalogs for stuff you want to buy but know you shouldn’t.. the list goes on. However, there is one day a month that I look forward to walking to the mailbox more than any other day. GlossyBox Day. I can spot that cute, flowery box from a mile away.
I’m pretty new to the whole “subscription beauty box” thing, so I don’t have a whole lot to compare it to, but from what I’ve read GlossyBox, is the leading in luxury beauty products. For $21 per month, or less depending on the length of your subscription, you get a box of five luxury beauty samples and sometimes full size products. In the few months I have been getting GlossyBoxes, I have repurchased atleast six of the products, including one in Octobers box! It was the Renu Exfoliating Gel, which I never would’ve even heard of it weren’t for the GlossyBox and it was perfect for my dry skin! I also got a full size tube of the Tarte “Lights Camera Flashes” Mascara, but I haven’t tried it yet because I just got lash extensions (more on that another day!). Β And if you travel as much as I do, the smaller sizes are perfect for suitcases and I put the ones I don’t use in a glass vase in my guest bathroom for my friends to use when they stay the night.
Have you tried any of the “Beauty Subscription” boxes? If so, which are your favorites?

I receive Birchbox monthly and I LOVE it! It really does give you something special to look forward to every month. Plus it’s only $10 per month and for every product review you get points to use in the Birchbox shop. 100 points = $10. It’s the greatest!
ive been a member of ipsy (formally) myglam for over a year and its such a treat. For $10.80 you get the same amount of items and the brands just keep getting better and better. I order Birchbox when they have limited edition boxes but not monthly anymore.
Here is the link to check them out. You get a gorgeous mini cosmetic bag each month which is great to stuff with gifts and give to your girlfriends.

I’ve tried ipsy for a few months…not impressed. It’s only $10/month, which is nice. However, the samples they give you are from no-name-never-ever heard if brands with zero quality! I think I’m going to give glossybox a try. Thanks Emily!
I subscribe to Ipsy and PopSugar Must Have boxes. I think I am addicted, but it’s definitely a great way to get introduced to new products.
I’ve been a Birchbox member for over a year and LOVE it! The best thing about them (in addition to the fun mail every month) is their points system. You earn points both on purchases and product reviews and they add up quickly–I’ve gotten so many free full-sized products using just points. It’s also only $10 a month. Check them out! http://birch.ly/17HgvTE
The Pop Sugar box is the best π It is amazinggg!
I used Birch Box for a while and genuinely loved it. The cost is $10/month and the products are pretty well aimed at the customer based on a little questionare they have when you sign up. Very interested in Glossy, though!
I’m a subscriber to Birchbox and I absolutely love it!! Birchbox is one of the most popular subscription brands and it’s only $10 for 5 or more beauty samples (& sometimes you get full size products!) ! The products found in Birchbox are a mix of high end and products you’d find at Ulta or Sephora. They also have a review incentive program where you can receive $10 off a full size purchase! I recently just purchased a $26 Cargo blush for only $0.80 because of all my review points. SCORE!! Birchbox is definitely something to look into! Check it out here: http://birch.ly/16MJILb
I have yet to subscribe to any beauty box but I have thought about subscribing to Birch Box. I think it’s fun and gives you something to look forward to each month and who doesn’t like to get a surprise in the mail? π

Just subscribed to Glossy box last month, because of you, Emily. I already love it:) Its like Christmas opening it up! A great way to learn about products, the Renu exfoliating gel was my favorite from the October box.
Hey Emily!
I am from Charlotte and would love a good recommendation of where to get eyelash extensions? I have never had very much luck. Must get some for the Holidays!
Love your site, but I’m confused by this post? Where is the review of the products; ie- show us the goods!! π
Each month there is different products, but you can see the specific contents of each box on the GlossyBox website! π
I’ve been getting Birchbox for the last year and a half and I LOVE it! So much fun! I’ve really come to find some products that I love that I never would have heard of on my own. Would love to hear your reviews on items you receive in your Glossybox!
Emily – I think I asked you about GlossyBox when you mentioned it in another post, and you said you loved it. I forgot about it so thanks for this post. Great way to try products without buying full-size stuff and end up hating the product…and waste $$. You rock! Subscribing NOW!
I see a few have mentioned Birchbox. I recently purchased it since I had a friend whom was raving about it. I will say for $10/month it is a great deal, and you can always purchase full-sized products (same idea as Glossybox…will have to try it!). Plus you can take a quiz where you tell them what products you would like to see more of in your future boxes, and they also have male versions for $20/month. In my October box – 1) Birchbox exclusive nail polish, 2) microdermabrasion face wash (works great!), 3) lip/cheek tint, 4) bun maker hair piece, and 5) full-sized lip balm.
Wow I have always wished for something like this. I always get a few free samples from Sephora when I order things but I had no idea someone came up with this!! Thanks Emily I just signed up for GlossyBox!! It’s great to know I can try stuff out with out having to buy the whole bottle, unless I love it! Sadly I was put on a waiting list or something like that for the Birchbox boo :`( thanks for all the info girls!!
You need to try the “new Beauty Test Tube”, it has many great products in it and you receive 1-2 full size products each time. It has introduced me to several new products that I have purchased and that says a lot, I’m a skin care junky!! It’s pricey at 39.99 a month but worth it!
Emily I can’t thank you enough regarding this wonderful tip! I had never heard of “subscription beauty boxes” before your post. Since reading it, I signed up for the glossy box and have enjoyed receiving them tremendously! Being a bit of a skincare and makeup junkie, I can’t wait for the box to come each month, and feel like a little schoolgirl giddy with excitement when it arrives. I get sooo excited to see what is in it each time! Thank you so much for the wonderful suggestion. Had it not been for your posting about the Glossy box I would’ve never of known such a neat experience existed.
