One of the highlights of my week is Sunday, when Ricki and I teach the four year old Life Group (basically Sunday School) at our church because I could be having the worst day but they instantly cheer me up. Hearing each of them say their weekly prayer requests, ask the most unanswerable questions about God (“Why doesn’t he have a last name?” is a favorite), and especially seeing Ricki’s faith grow as she pours into them each week makes my heart beyond happy.
Now I know it seems a bit.. ok, a lot shallow to think about, but I have a hard time figuring out what to wear every Sunday! I have to be comfortable enough to be able to chase a room full of four year olds around, but also dressy enough to not look underdressed afterwards during the service. One positive to being as short as I am is that I learned how to not only walk, but also be comfortable in heels at a very early age. However, this past Sunday was an exception for even the most experienced girly girl. They put all of the kids classes in one room for the Easter services and there I was, trying to balance one kid on my hip but also play kitchen without stepping on any fingers. So, if you saw a girl walking to her car barefoot after church, it was me. I guess it’s God’s way of preparing me for the future 🙂
We went to Tyler’s parents house afterwards for lunch and there was no way I was wearing heels, so here’s what I wore… And as you can see from our picture, we all decided to do a quick wardrobe change! What are your favorite ways to dress up but still be comfortable? (*Outfit details and links listed under the top picture!)
I’m wearing the “Mindy” necklace from my collection and for some reason I haven’t featured it much on the blog. Tassels are huge for spring and I get compliments on this one everywhere I go!
Such a sweet family Emily! Congrats!
I love your blog, thank you for sharing!! You are so relatable AND your suggestions and links to great outfit pieces are more than helpful!
So beautiful and Riki’s dress is darling!
I must ask, where are the heels from that you wore to church? They are so cute!!
I have to ask, where did you get the white and pink polka dot heels? They are too cute!
This is the first blog I have read and I love it. Thank you for not only sharing your fashion but most importantly your faith! I will definitely keep up with you posts!
I love your maxi skirt, it’s perfect to dress up or dress down and that color is perfect for spring!

Emily, you looked great both for church and for the luncheon afterwards!! You are so beautiful. My daughter Morgan is new to your church and is trying to get plugged in. She visited a Lifegroup for singles but most were older than her.She sings like an angel so I hope that she will help out with the praise team. She was a Freshman at Wingate University when Tyler was a senior. Hope you guys can meet sometime. You would love her!!
I just can’t believe how LONG Ricki’s little legs look! She’s getting so tall and looks so grown up! What a beauty!
You have truly been blessed with a wonderful family now… and Ricky just seems to thrive with the new man in your life…God Bless and best wishes
Annette 🙂
Love that necklace! Super cute!!
Emily- I teach the 4 year old children’s church at my church also! And I have the same exact problem, every Sunday. I want to be cute AND comfortable! Our church is fairly casual, so I normally do a long skirt, cute flats/sandals/wedges and a jean jacket. I have no idea what to wear this summer though! Anywhoo- Love the outfit and your site!
Ricki’s grin couldn’t be any wider. Such a pleasure to see.
